Inspirational Person of the Week - Peter Dahm
You are leading one of the most critical operations during these "corona times." How do you maintain job satisfaction and motivation among all employees?

You lead one of the most critical operations in these "corona times". How do you maintain job satisfaction and motivation among all employees who are struggling in this tough situation?
I am now on my 22nd working day in a row. It actually works well, which surprises me. The urgency of the issue and all the employees' willpower and energy provide fuel and inspiration. In times of crisis like this, it is noticeable that everyone steps up and acts with reason and responsibility. What the employees are signaling is that we will manage this, we have competence, we will not leave any citizen without medical care, we will do everything to manage this situation. Intensive care is a true teamwork where each personnel category is equally important. That is how we work on a daily basis, and it comes in handy in a situation like this. It is incredibly wonderful to see this force working together. A contributing reason why it works so well now, I think, is that we are a business with stable and robust staff. I am happy and proud of that, which makes the work easier in times like this.
To what extent do you work together with doctors in other countries, and what does the international cooperation look like now?
The cooperation with doctors and intensive care clinics in other countries is intense. We have very good contacts since many years with research groups all over the world and continuously exchange information and tips. Today, for example, there is a four-hour long international live-streaming about the latest in Covid treatment of ICU patients. We give each other tips and advice daily. We are like a big family in the work against Covid.
Your organization consists of employees with several different nationalities, and diversity is a natural part of the business. What positive effects does it have?
Healthcare is truly international. We have several employees from all over the world who have come to Sweden and our business to work. It constitutes a fantastic force. They contribute enormously with their knowledge and experience from their countries. Our business would never have managed our mission today if we had not had them. We work together as a team regardless of where we come from. Origin, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, etc. do not matter. We work for the same thing, i.e. the patients' best!
