Lasse, you were dismissed for lack of work when the Corona crisis took off barely two months ago. The day after you got the news, you were up and running at a new workplace producing protective visors for healthcare workers. Tell us what you did to adjust and how you acted in this tough situation?

Becoming unemployed does not mean idleness for me. On the one hand, I have to look for work to secure my livelihood. But given the current times, I also realized that my time can also be used for something constructive for many.
A former client of mine had started a project where he printed visors for healthcare workers using 3D printers. When I contacted him about my new work situation, it took half an hour and then we had a discussion about this project which I then started.
You have now started a project where you cook and distribute food boxes to people at risk of Corona, completely free of charge. Tell us!
I have a background as a chef in the Navy. (A very long time ago.) Cooking is one of my greatest interests. It's even so that I sometimes go in and do some shifts as a chef at the restaurants here in Mariefred where I live because it's so much fun.
Initially, a friend asked me if I could make fifty food boxes for his mother who lives in Borlänge but who had no real respect for staying in home quarantine. Moreover, she has no home help to cook for her. I received a donation from another friend who lives in Bahrain to cook 50 food boxes and give to those I thought have the greatest need.
What struck me then was to try to reward those who actually stay at home in these Corona times by delivering well-cooked and good food to their door. What I did not realize initially was the willingness to donate in my own network and in others completely unknown to me who heard about this project. I am now raising money via Swish and Funded By Me, a fundraising site. All proceeds go to raw materials.

You have a rare ability to see the positive in crises and changing conditions and quickly get back on your feet. What tips can you give to all those who are worried about the consequences of the Corona crisis on the labor market and the uncertainty that prevails now?
Start thinking circularly with shorter planning horizons. Classic linear thinking does not work as well as it used to. Disruptive shifts emerge that can change an entire industry or, as now, virtually the entire economy in one fell swoop. It is important to see the crisis as both a threat and an opportunity and to dare to take the step to find the opportunities. The crisis we are now experiencing will create many new behaviors and needs. New ways of operating in the workplace, communication and contingency planning are areas that I believe will be greatly affected. In-time planning for industry in particular will change radically. So will contingency planning for society at large. The right attitude to changing conditions will go a long way.
