"What do you think are the most important personal skills for succeeding in a volatile world?"
Carina, with a background from Stena Line and H&M, shares her most important and valuable insights about change management here.
Mastering adaptability
A master of adaptability not only survives but thrives in changing environments. In a world of constant change, the ability to create calm and stability is essential, even when things get tough. It's about having business models and people who can quickly adapt to new conditions. To succeed, we must think in terms of scenarios, have a growth mindset, map out the forces driving change, and constantly monitor disruptive technologies. Leading in this era isn't about reacting – it's about staying one step ahead.
Knowing your customer
Customer expectations are changing rapidly, and the buying journey is no longer linear. There can be 20 touchpoints before a purchase. To succeed, it's crucial to understand your customers (through data), deliver quickly (relevance with AI), and always exceed expectations. Not knowing your customer leads to missed opportunities for proactive engagement, upselling, and long-term relationship and brand building.
Dare to try new things and find what's missing in the future
People, technology, and business must interact to find new ways forward. Review your digital business and revenue models in the long term – what will be needed in the future? Build solutions to meet these needs. Dare to experiment and collaborate with unexpected partners to create new business opportunities. If your current distribution model isn't capturing consumers, identify where to position yourself – sustainability, quality, or customer value – and dare to take the leap.
Empathy & trust
In a constantly changing world, companies have an important role to play by building bridges, driving social development, and creating new businesses. I believe the key to a sustainable future lies in empathy and collaboration between startups, large companies, and new technologies, and in the hands of people who contribute energy and trust to their teams.
To meet and manage the challenges of the future, flexible, diverse, and adaptable leadership is required, along with a large dose of EQ!
