Stefan Hallberg, e-Learning guru with over 20 years of experience in digital learning who has built up and run companies with skills transfer as a common thread
Stefan, how come you are still in the industry after so many years?
The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know and how much there is left to do. We are currently working on stimulating and measuring behavioral changes using an app. This is called gamification. In all forms of education, the actual behavioral change is what everyone wants, so we focus on that.
How have the market and technology for interactive learning changed and developed in recent years?
It's constantly becoming simpler, faster, and shorter. Long e-learning courses that used to be several hours are now divided into short sessions of a maximum of 5 minutes, if done correctly. It's harder to get the target group's attention, so you have to be concise and stimulate exactly what you want to happen.
What applications do you see for gaming/interactive learning in a more AI-based world?
In our gamification app, it's about encouraging good behaviors and creating good habits, which is perfect for AI. We are working on implementing AI in the app so that it provides personalized feedback and suggestions for development. This can be linked to health, sales, leadership, safety, or sustainability. These are the most common areas for us. Each area has specific behaviors that are good, and quite a few that can be done wrong as well. AI is very suitable for this, and we can build up data and frameworks to provide personalized feedback. The information about what is happening comes from the users or from another system. The purpose of good behavior is often to achieve some form of result, such as a reduced number of accidents or increased sales. It becomes very interesting when you see the connection between behavioral development, what can be influenced, and improved results.
