This week's inspiration - Hugo Boccara

This week, we want to highlight Hugo Boccara, CEO and co-founder of the greentech company Korall Carbon Capture AB, a company focused on innovative solutions in carbon capture.

The environmental technology sector needs more committed and entrepreneurial leaders, and Based On People looks forward to following Korall's continued journey with Hugo at the helm.

Hugo, how did you end up in this industry and in a leading position?

Since I was little, I have been passionate about social issues and entrepreneurship. After experimenting with various entrepreneurial projects during my teens, I eventually started at Chalmers University. It was during my master's program at Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship that I came into contact with the researchers behind the company's technology. They needed someone who could handle the business side, and I saw the potential in their invention, and that's how it happened.

What value can Korall add, and what makes your technology/solution unique?

We have the opportunity to manage emissions that are already in the air and actively reduce them. The technology enables this cheaper, smarter, and with less energy consumption than current solutions. The greatest value we contribute is being able to offer flexible solutions in emission reduction, either by turning the captured carbon dioxide into renewable resources or by storing it permanently.

How do you view the development in the greentech industry in the coming years, and what will be especially important to succeed with your business ideas/solutions?

Greentech is a bit tricky because the industry is very dependent on decision-makers thinking it is important to solve the climate crisis. I think it will be absolutely crucial for companies with high emissions to collaborate with us greentech companies. At the same time, high demands are also placed on us from greentech to be able to deliver large emission reductions at the same price that the customer pays today. Whoever succeeds with this likely has a good case to be successful.
