Stefan Gitye was recruited by Based On People three years ago to be responsible for the Nordic delivery organization at GlobalLogic - a leading consulting company in tech and product design for the automotive industry, among others. 1.5 years ago, Stefan was promoted to CEO for the Nordic operations.

 

Stefan, you have now been with GlobalLogic for three years. Did the assignment turn out as you expected or as we initially presented it?

-Both, is my short answer; I have learned a lot and matured as both a leader and a person during these three years. I have been given great freedom and trust from above to build my team as I wanted, and I have received support all the way from both my colleagues and managers. We have had a fantastic journey, where the challenge has been to integrate the Swedish culture into a global company.

Exactly, how have you succeeded in getting your local team of over 100 people to thrive and deliver in a company with 31,000 employees in 23 countries?

-Several factors have worked together to achieve this. Upwards and outwards in the organization, I have created an understanding of the Swedish way of working with coaching leadership to create a clear culture based on open dialogue that creates psychological safety. My way of building relationships with everyone in the organization, both globally and locally, has definitely been crucial, as relationships create strong results. You get far by being present, by listening with the insight that everyone is driven by different realities depending on their place in a large organization.
