Reflections from the last six months of breakfast seminars

Martin, who has participated and what are your spontaneous reflections and thoughts after these workshops?
The participants are leaders from our network who represent several different types of businesses, industries and areas of responsibility. Since we want to create an open, personal and relaxed atmosphere, we conduct each workshop with few participants (max 10 per occasion). It is a fantastic forum for inspiration, exchange of experience and environmental scanning. It is a pleasure to moderate these breakfast workshops. I sit in "first place" and get to take part in so much knowledge, wisdom, insights and joy.
What themes have there been and what were the thoughts behind the choice of themes?
There have been three different themes; "The art of failing", "Sustainable leadership" and "The new leadership in the new Sweden". Leadership is our passion, and we have the privilege of meeting leaders in different situations every day. These themes have naturally emerged through our conversations, and we want to choose themes that are contemporary, relevant and engaging.
Can you share some thoughts, reflections and insights that have emerged in the discussions?
So-called "failures" are a great source of creativity and innovation. This is a crucial success factor for our businesses in an increasingly unpredictable and dynamic world. We need courageous leaders who create security and transparency, so that all employees dare to test new ways of working and groundbreaking ideas.
To future-proof the organization, we as leaders need to create sustainability for both people and products. We need to supplement the monetary values with key figures and KPIs that measure health, commitment and passion. Diversity, density of perspective and an inclusive culture are also important factors.
In uncertain times, as we are now in, it is difficult to set goals and develop relevant forecasts. Then it is important that the business has a common higher purpose and a clear "why". In a crisis situation, we as leaders need to look up and contribute with sound perspectives. Leaders who stand for inclusion, social responsibility and genuine values become extra visible in difficult situations. Distance leadership and self-leadership have been given an updated meaning recently. One of many effects of this is that it unleashes courage, commitment and more individual and creative initiatives.
These breakfast workshops have been very appreciated - what are the thoughts for the autumn? Can you share something about which themes will be addressed.
Some questions that often come up are; do we need different leadership profiles to lead the business in growth and decommissioning, is there a difference between leading a service company compared to a product company, how important is it that the leader has industry knowledge. These are some examples of possible themes for the autumn's breakfast workshop. It is important to be responsive and have your ear to society. I look forward to what happens in the autumn, and what themes emerge in our daily conversations.
Thank you Martin for inspiring and rewarding workshops - look forward to the autumn's conversations. Have a nice summer!
