Purpose of the Role

This is a high profile, leadership position and an integral member of the country executive leadership team reporting directly to the country MD. The procurement director will be responsible for defining and delivering the overarching procurement vision, strategy and KPI’s, aligned to Compass procurement excellence best practise. They will need to ensure close collaboration and alignment across all functions to deliver best value solutions to ensure the business grows and the procurement team deliver sustainable year on year improved results.

This role will inspire and motivate their team by creating a high-performance culture, embedding a true procurement mindset, and striving for procurement excellence across every aspect of their team’s activity and delivery.

The Procurement Director will also have a dotted reporting line into the Regional Procurement Director and therefore play an integral role collaborating with colleagues across the region and at times globally, to support sharing and embedding best in class processes and approaches to accelerate regional procurement performance year on year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a key player in strengthening procurement organisation wide, positioning it as a key enabler for growth.
  • Lead the transformation from a traditional supply base to a partnership model.
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the procurement team to plan, develop and execute procurement activity that delivers the KPI’s.
  • Broaden the business deals and optimising the spend. Develop category plans to extract value from every area of spend, food, non-food & retail.
  • Embed Compass Group procurement excellence blueprint best practise, processes, and ways of working in the organisation.
  • Develop and implement a procurement data & systems strategy to accelerate control, visibility & value delivery.
  • Build strong sustainable relationships with key strategic suppliers to leverage and deliver value.
  • Embed structure, governance, and process within in the team to drive market leading procurement performance.
  • Lead collaboration, alignment, and structured interaction with Compass sectors to drive performance and delivery together.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Academic degree in economics, logistics, or another relevant field.
  • Extensive Procurement expertise / experience
  • A dynamic, energetic & creative leader that can define a vision for success whilst delivering tangible progress across the short, medium & long term.
  • Strong commercial acumen to maximise results and challenge the status quo.
  • An ability to make effective decisions under pressure with an abundance of resilience & tenacity.
